Power Animal Painting with Ivan Lopez
Embroidering Charms with Chichai
The evening will be filled with a magical atmosphere, vibrant colors, and music, creating a community space where art, nature, and human connection unite. From the start, you’ll receive guidance to bring your spirit animal to life on your sweater. Drinks will also be available for purchase or donation.
We will embroider and make our own charms // ornaments! Embroidery is a craft found worldwide throughout millennia, including here on Turtle Island. We’ll learn about how embroidery has traditionally been used decoratively as well as for storytelling while recreating our own stories with needle and thread.

Power Animal is an artistic experience designed to transform a sweater into a meaningful piece of wearable art. In this workshop, we’ll explore animal symbolism through four inspiring choices: the HUMMINGBIRD, COYOTE, TURTLE, and KOI FISH, allowing you to connect with the one that resonates most with you.
When you register, choose your animal and sweater size, so everything is ready upon your arrival. Please note that only black sweaters are available. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind opportunity to create wearable art that reflects your connection to nature and animals. Just bring a desire to dive into self-expression and make new connections in this unforgettable workshop, hosted by Iván López and dAniel Alvarado-Arias.

ChiChai (she/her) is an artist, educator, and community-gatherer born and raised in Occupied Ohlone Land, also known as the Bay Area.
Whether teaching or creating, her work is intersectional in its roots to nature, feminism, and the dismantling of colonial mindsets.
Through fashion design, murals and mixed media, ChiChai aims to honor indigenous craftsmanship, the matriarch that has raised her, and Mama Earth.
Now more than ever, we know we need to find each other & germinate dreams of radical community. So we’re inviting you to bring small plates or drinks to share, and come gather with us for the winter solstice to germinate dreams of radical community. We’ll have tea, mulled wine, a DIY clay bar offering, and a cozy ceramics studio to spend the longest night of the year in such good company.
